Tested the validity of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) with accused murderers (N=96) undergoing pre-trial evaluations. Results indicated four predictors of MMPI elevated scores: low intelligence, history of drug abuse, suspiciousness observed on the ward, and the fact that the accused was a stranger to the victim. Examined the relationship between scores on the MMPI and concurrent and prior aggression. Analysis indicated sum of T scores for Scales F, 4, and 9 was valid measure of aggression. Discusses various techniques used in selecting residence hall staff including peer ratings, role playing, and the Leaderless Group Discussion. Use of personality inventories in selecting staff is reviewed. Conclusions consider the validity of these techniques. (RC)

A replication study was conducted to retest the validity of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital Suicide Potential Scale. Fifty four patients who had committed suicide and fifty who had not were the population studied to test, if possible, the limits of prediction the scale can attain by judging the behavior of these patients.
