Paulhus, Delroy L.; Dubois, Patrick J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2014
The overclaiming technique is a novel assessment procedure that uses signal detection analysis to generate indices of knowledge accuracy (OC-accuracy) and self-enhancement (OC-bias). The technique has previously shown robustness over varied knowledge domains as well as low reactivity across administration contexts. Here we compared the OC-accuracy…

Knofczynski, Gregory T.; Mundfrom, Daniel – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2008
When using multiple regression for prediction purposes, the issue of minimum required sample size often needs to be addressed. Using a Monte Carlo simulation, models with varying numbers of independent variables were examined and minimum sample sizes were determined for multiple scenarios at each number of independent variables. The scenarios…

Hartley, Alan A.; Hartley, Joellen T. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1976
A predictive equation for estimating performance in a basic course in methods of psychological research from scores on the Differential Aptitude Test reasoning scales and on the Davis Reading Test, from measures of attitudes toward issues in psychology, and from self-ratings of abilities and of expected course grades is developed. Conger, Anthony J.; Jackson, Douglas N. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1972
Paper discusses the nature of the suppressor variable, constraints upon the degree of gain in predictability by the addition of a suppressor, and the distinct aims of prediction and of construct measurement. (Authors/MB)

Nye, Lendell G.; Witt, L. Alan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1995
Basic rules are suggested to replace the signed coefficient rule to infer the form of moderator effects in terms of slopes of regression lines. Steps are provided to interpret the form of moderator effects that can be achieved using only the regression coefficients of the predictor variable and interaction term. (SLD)

Gable, Robert K.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
Social studies grades were predicted from a variety of affective and cognitive predictor variables on a sample of eleventh grade students. Significant relationships were found for both types of variables. A measure of motivation toward education predicted grades nearly as accurately as any of the cognitive variables. (Author/JKS)

Richards, James M.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1974
Investigated the prediction of success in the six-year combined undergraduate and medical education program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Implications for selection policy are considered. (Author)

Batlis, Nick C. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
A job involvement measure was altered to reflect academic involvement and was employed as a predictor of academic performance. Contrary to the findings of prior industrial research, involvement was found to be correlated neither with age nor with course satisfaction; however, it did prove an efficacious predictor of course grade. (Author/JKS)

Etaugh, Alfred F.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1972
Findings show that the reliability of GPA depends on three factors: the number of course grades, the average reliability of these grades, and the credit-hour weights. (Authors)

Hanna, Gerald S.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
Work sample aptitude test items and questionnaire items on past and predicted grades each contributed to the predictive efficiency of the Orleans-Hanna Algebra Prognosis Test in forecasting algebra grades for 2,684 eighth grade students. (Author/PN)

Federici, Louise; Schuerger, James – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1974
Investigated extent to which traditional indices (test scores, undergraduate GPA, letters of recommendation) and less traditional measures (interview ratings and biographical information) would predict each of two criteria of success in a subdoctoral program in applied psychology: a) academic competency (graduate GPA) and b) faculty ratings of…

Troutman, James G. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Grades in a college freshman course in finite mathematics were predicted from IQ, high school math grades, college board scores, and high school class ranks. The squared multiple correlation for the full model was .611. (JKS)
