The validity of some theoretically derived vocational diagnostic signs was examined to learn if a person's self-knowledge, occupational knowledge, and decision-making ability were predictable. The positive results imply some practical applications and the need for further theoretical investigation. (Author)

Tested the influence of sex role as a predictor of self-disclosure. Students' scores on masculine dimensions of the Bem Sex Role Inventory predicted disclosure to strangers and acquaintances, but scores on both masculine and feminine dimensions were needed to predict disclosure to intimate targets. Expressed vocational choices correctly predicted actual occupations 2 years after high school for 38 percent of the total sample. When certainty level was added to expressed choice, prediction rates were 43 percent for very sure choosers, 38 percent for fairly sure choosers, and 28 percent who were not sure. (Author)

Asked 391 students to provide 3 types of mathematics self-efficacy judgments. Students' reported confidence to answer the problems they were later asked to solve proved a more powerful predictor of that performance than either their confidence to perform math-related tasks or to succeed in math-related courses.
