The aim of the present research is to reveal the predictor relationships between the values held by married individuals, resilience and conflict resolution styles. Vuolo, Mike – Sociological Methods & Research, 2017
Often in sociology, researchers are confronted with nonnormal variables whose joint distribution they wish to explore. Yet, assumptions of common measures of dependence can fail or estimating such dependence is computationally intensive. This article presents the copula method for modeling the joint distribution of two random variables, including…

This study measured aspects of the couple relationship to examine direct and indirect relations with parental involvement in education and children's school outcomes. Kitson, Gay C.; And Others – Journal of Divorce, 1983
Tested the utility of an exchange model for predicting divorce or withdrawal of divorce petitions, using court records and interviews of men and women who were divorced or subsequently withdrew their divorce petitions. Discriminant function analyses indicated that an exchange model can predict divorce versus petition withdrawal. (JAC)

Bahr, Stephen J.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Surveyed 704 couples to test a model in which role enactment and role consensus were intervening variables between age at marriage and marital satisfaction. Findings showed age at marriage was not significant, but quality of spouse role enactment and role consensus had a strong, positive association with marital satisfaction. (JAC)

Factors influencing expansion of instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) caregiver networks beyond the spouse/partner were studied, using data from the Asset and Health Dynamics among the Oldest Old (AHEAD) nationally representative sample of American elders (ages 70 and older). Finney, John W.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1983
Presents a conceptual framework of potentially broad applicability in the study of spouses of persons suffering from impairments. The model integrates previous research in the alcoholism field and provides a more comprehensive account of spouse functioning than is afforded by focusing only on partner drinking behavior. (Author/RC)

Barnett, Rosalind C.; Marshall, Nancy – 1989
There is general agreement that subjective experience in a role, i.e. role quality, is a better predictor of both physical and mental health measures than is role occupancy per se. In this study the relationships between two aspects of role quality in women's three social roles (paid employee, partner, and parent) and three health measures…
