The paper states and proves three propositions regarding the usefulness of the ITED (Iowa Tests of Educational Development) in preparing adult basic education students to take the GED tests. The first proposition, that the ITED can be a useful practice test for GED candidates, is supported by the fact that the ITED tests are designed to measure…

Cervero, Ronald – 1977
A study was conducted to develop an instrument which would require a relatively short time to complete and would predict an adult's probable performance on a five-part General Educational Development (GED) test. It was believed that the cloze procedure (a measure of reading comprehension in which every fifth word is deleted from a reading passage…

Small, Arnold; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1983
Studied weight-gain 127 primary anorexics by examining the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale and the Rorschach for indices that may predict improvement. Results showed that cognitive-focusing skills, measured by the Wechsler, account for roughly half of the variance and were good predictors of weight gain. (WAS)

Horn, Wade F.; Packard, Thomas – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1985
Data on the early prediction of learning problems was summarized by a meta analysis of 58 studies reporting correlations between measures administered in kindergarten or first grade and later reading achievement. The best single predictors of achievement were attention-distractibility, internalizing behavior problems, and language variables.…

Barker, Lawrence W.; Mink, Oscar G. – 1968
The Mink Scale is designed to differentiate between potential dropout and non-dropout students at the junior high school level. Items of the scale represent social, psychological, and educational factors established in previous dropout studies. A pilot study in five Appalachian counties compared scale responses for 189 (dropouts) former students…
