Distance Education in Occupational Therapy: Comparison of On-Campus and Hybrid Student Outcomes

The purpose of this study was to compare performance of occupational therapy doctoral students in an on campus pathway with those in a hybrid pathway. An independent "t" test revealed no significant (>0.05) differences between on-campus and hybrid cohorts for all outcome measures, including end-of-year and cumulative grade point average, fieldwork performance evaluation total scores and subsection scores, and National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy practice exam scores and pass rates. These results indicate no differences in student performance between selected content delivery formats. This information may be useful to graduate healthcare programs interested in adopting a hybrid method of content delivery.
