Meagher, Michael; Edwards, Michael Todd; Ozgun-Koca, S. Asli – Mathematics Teacher Education and Development, 2013
Successful teacher preparation programs provide learning experiences that help teacher candidates make the shift from "student" to "teacher." In this paper we present research on the implementation of a process for providing candidates such experiences. Utilizing the Mathematics as Teacher Heuristic (MATH) process, prospective…

Ramaekers, Stephan; Kremer, Wim; Pilot, Albert; van Beukelen, Peter; van Keulen, Hanno – Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education, 2010
Real-life, complex problems often require that decisions are made despite limited information or insufficient time to explore all relevant aspects. Incorporating authentic uncertainties into an assessment, however, poses problems in establishing results and analysing their methodological qualities. This study aims at developing a test on clinical…

Ginsberg, Edward S.; Panasuk, Regina M. – Electronic Journal of Science Education, 1998
Use of end-of-chapter textbook problems for teaching and assessing concepts in introductory physics is widespread, as is restriction of student access to the solutions. Surveys student attitudes (n=128) on access to problem solutions, sampling the enrollment in a large calculus-level course. Results confirm a definite preference for freer access…

Ginsberg, Edward S.; Panasuk, Regina M. – Electronic Journal of Science Education, 1998
Collects and examines data on the attitudes of physics instructors towards allowing student access to textbook problem solutions. Student data (n=227) was collected by survey. Compares student and instructor attitudes and discusses the possible significance of the survey results. (Author/MVL)

Blake, Rick N. – Mathematics Teacher, 1985
The author uses Stella the Spider as the main character in a number of three-dimensional geometry problems. Eight of these problems are discussed, with solutions. (MNS)

Dahlke, Richard; Fakler, Robert – Mathematics Teacher, 1982
Geometrical probability deals with probability on infinite sample spaces where each outcome of an experiment is equally likely to occur. Geometry which identifies sample space regions and event subregions leads to a method of finding a desired probability. A collection of problems with solutions is presented. (MP)

Ginsberg, Edward S.; Panasuk, Regina M.; George, Simon – Electronic Journal of Science Education, 1997
Examines the attitudes of physics instructors on how and when students should be allowed access to textbook problem solutions. Presents a detailed analysis of 249 survey responses from U.S. and Canadian universities which conveyed a wide range of opinions and comments. Discusses the need to rethink strategies regarding access to solutions. (AIM)
