Principals and Heads of School at International Schools: The Impact of Relationships on Turnover

This doctoral research study explores how international school administrators' perceptions of professional relationships influence turnover in international schools, and presents findings on administrators' awareness, challenges, and best practices as they relate to turnover. Chapter one introduces the problem of turnover in K-12 schools and describes growth in international schools, the problem of turnover among education professionals and the potential impacts on stakeholders. Chapter two presents a detailed literature view that provides the history and current status of administrative roles in schools and international schools. Chapter three presents the methodology and findings for this qualitative study. Chapter four is an application to practice that presents a professional development training based on the literature and research.
