A detailed analysis of geriatric education at the undergraduate, graduate, and fellowship levels is reported. Data on the type of training sites, educational activities, and clinical interaction at different levels of training are presented. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program, begun in 1969, was developed to allow selected physician clinicians to acquire skills not part of the usual physician's repertoire.
