One Source Training: Iowa Community Colleges Leverage Resources through Statewide Collaboration
Saylor, Collette
Community College Journal of Research & Practice, v30 n2 p149-150 Feb 2006
Locally governed Iowa Community Colleges are very effective at meeting the needs of local constituencies. However, this focus on local needs can hinder collaborative efforts. The Iowa Associations of Community College Trustees and Presidents determined there was a need for a single point of contact for the development and purchase of training services to meet the needs of businesses and organizations that serve the entire state. This article describes the establishment of "One Source Training," the partnership of Iowa's 15 community colleges, as the single point of contact for pricing, contracting, organizing training delivery, and billing. Clients receive the same quality training--regardless of location--for the same price, using the same curriculum and materials. The community colleges provide all the resources for training development and delivery.
