Present U.S. administrative plans to reduce the number of advisory and interagency coordinating bodies may have negative consequences in the science areas. The U.S. Climate Program is a complex interagency program with activities in many agencies. There is concern that following current policies could severely limit this program. (MA)

As a result, the federal government is now showing an interest in aquaculture and has designated the Department of Agriculture as the lead agency for research, extension, and education.
