An Evaluation of the All Pro Dad Program in a Public-School District
Tanisha Nicole Boone
ProQuest LLC, D.Ed. Dissertation, Tarleton State University
The present study utilized Stuffle beam's (2017) Context, Input, Process, and Product(CIPP) model of program evaluation, to evaluate the All Pro Dad program. The purpose of the evaluation was to determine whether All Pro Dad met the goal of the North Texas public-school district which was to increase involvement of fathers and father figures. The study also aimed to evaluate the impact the program had on student academic performance and student behavior by answering the following questions: 1. Did the implementation of the All Pro Dad program meet the objectives of the district? 2. Should the All Pro Dad program be continued, continued with modifications, or discontinued? The CIPP model of program evaluation was used to examine the initial implementation of the All Pro Dad program in a North Texas public-school district to determine the program's ability to increase parental involvement in the district. The context phase of program evaluation required the public-school district to determine the needs, specifically the need to increase involvement from fathers or father figures. The district arranged for 10 campuses to participate in monthly guided lessons with program leaders at a cost of $50 per campus. The program was available to all students in the district as well as any father or father figure of a student. During the input phase the public-school district and All Pro Dad representatives communicated roles to each participant, the training that would be available, and the materials to be utilized. The third phase of program evaluation, the process phase, entailed evaluation of the program. The study results provided information relative to improvements needed to address the challenges faced and support for an extension of program implementation to address those challenges. Due to the corona virus pandemic, the recommendation was made to discontinue the program. The pandemic caused schools to shut down for over five months and upon reopening created strenuous guidelines that would not allow a program such as All Pro Dad to continue. It is the recommendation of the researcher that the program continue, under normal circumstances, for one additional year for further evaluation.
