Tarkinton, Brenda C.; Karp, Grace Goc
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (JOPERD), v81 n9 p20-24, 38 Nov-Dec 2010
With today's focus on the importance of lifelong physical activity, educators are increasingly offering a variety of such activities in their classes, as well as in before- and after-school programs. This article describes the benefits of offering ice skating as a challenging and rewarding lifetime activity, either before or after school or in physical education (if time allows). It also discusses rink logistics, safety and equipment, program and lesson planning, and support from schools and parents. (Contains 1 table and 2 figures.)
