A five-week experiment showed significant gains in economic understanding of second graders as a result of using the author's materials. Weekly inservice training of teachers had no (further) significant impact on student learning. (IM)

The purpose of the study was to describe the contribution made by the social studies curriculum, in general, and the Americanism vs. Communism course in particular, to the development of overall economic understanding among high school seniors in Southwest Florida. (Author/JH)

This study measures the effectiveness of teacher-made materials and special training for teachers using the materials in increasing the economic knowledge of elementary school pupils. The results show a comparative advantage for experimental as opposed to control group students. (Author/JH)
