Leadership plays a crucial component in an organization's success. The present mixed-methods study investigated the relationship of perceived stress among first-year college students who were emerging adults aged 18 through 24 and mindfulness training. The study was two-fold, beginning with the quantitative portion. The participants (N = 36) completed the Perceived Stress Scale 10 (PSS-10) before an eight-week mindfulness training and after the training. The qualitative portion of the study analyzed weekly journal prompts (N = 50) and semi-structured interviews (N = 6), which responded to questions pertaining to how stress plays a role in their academic and personal lives. The findings revealed a significant correlation between perceived stress levels and mindfulness training. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
