A model for evaluating the effectiveness of graduate programs is proposed. It is emphasized that the primary purpose of this model is to provide graduate program administrators with data that will aid program assessment and curricular improvement. The study found that counseled students graduated at a higher rate within four years and use of either service was associated with a reduced rate of leaving in bad standing, grade point average below 2.0.
