A follow-up survey suggested the course had helped individuals with adaptive strategies that facilitate life transitions. Two groups of parents received behavioral skill training designed to modify child noncompliance. One group also received formal training in social learning principles. Data from a random sample of 421 teachers in Minnesota public schools indicated that, while the lecture method was used most extensively, simulation or on-the-job training was perceived as most effective in human relations training in terms of both teacher satisfaction and personal growth. (CM)

This study determined the relationships of field placement characteristics and students' potential field performance abilities to final clinical experience performance ratings of early childhood student teachers. Compared the effect of a traditional "Star Show" program and a "Participatory Oriented Program" in a small, educational planetarium on elementary school students' (N=556) achievement and attitudes. Aside from being an invasion of privacy, values clarification exercises are inappropriate for most elementary students who, still in the concrete operations stage of mental development, are incapable of generalizing moral principles.
