Describes the strategy used in a study designed to evaluate the impact and efficacy of the National Science Foundation Comprehensive Program for Teacher Education. The data from this study had not yet been analyzed, and results are therefore not included in the paper. (JR)

Reports on an extensive field study conducted to evaluate a successful inservice program for elementary mathematics teachers. The evaluation provides a measure of stated characteristics in a field setting and utilizes both measures of teacher response to the program and student achievement resulting from the inservice activities.
