The psychiatry clerkship at the University of British Columbia emphasizes the teaching model of the student as primary therapist. Principal findings are presented in this report which attempts to evaluate some aspects of this innovative approach to teaching clinical psychiatry. (Author/PG)

Findings indicate that students with previous clerkships gain no significant advantage upon entering the Basic Medicine Clerkship over those without clerkship experience.
