ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Wilmington University (Delaware)
This study aimed to determine prior teacher and educational diagnostician knowledge of Indicator 13 and how to use Indicator 13 to improve post-school outcomes for students with moderate to severe disabilities. This study examined students with moderate to severe disabilities' indicator 13 results at the Learning Independency for Everyday (L.I.F.E.) Program and the Life Centered Career Education Pathway (LCCE) program and compared it to teacher and education diagnostician's knowledge of Indicator 13. Findings from the study show that providing professional development to teachers and educational diagnosticians on indicator 13, the transition portion of the IEP for post-secondary goals for students in Delaware ages 14 and older or in 8th grade, can support teachers and education diagnosticians in completing the transition portion of the IEP and better-supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities post-school.
