To develop the skill of critical ethical thinking, a two-component model was developed for ethics instruction in the College of Pharmacy at Xavier University of Louisiana. The need to provide consumer drug education to the elderly has been well-documented. Pharmacists and pharmacy students must learn how to present the material to this population in order to encourage more appropriate use. An instructional design approach was used to develop four computer modules and test the effectiveness of computer-assisted instruction versus traditional lecture presentation in a pharmacy nonprescription drug course.
