Helmes, Edward – Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, 2008
The MMPI-2 continues to be widely used in many areas of professional forensic psychology, including the evaluation of criminal offenders for rehabilitation purposes. While many possible applications of the MMPI exist, not all are well-supported by strong empirical evidence. The origins of the scale among psychiatric populations suggest some…

Watson, Charles G.; And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Compared a suicide-completion group to a psychiatric control sample on the 13 traditional MMPI scales, three experimental item pools, and eight profile patterns earlier described as indicative of suicidal tendencies (N=84). The results argue against the use of the MMPI at this time to predict suicide. (JAC)

Thieret, Nancy Lee; Anderson, Douglas H. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985
Cluster analysis and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory were used together to determine whether heterogeneous diagnostic groups could be identified in an inpatient psychiatric population. Comparison of four clustering techniques showed cluster analysis to be a poor diagnostic discriminator when compared to diagnostic groups. (NRB)

Overall, John E.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Compares the discriminant validity, for general psychiatric screening, of an abbreviated 168-item administration of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory with that of the standard 373-item short form. Also provides new and improved equations for converting scores from the shorter form to equivalent MMPI clinical scale scores. (RC)

Chase, Terry V.; And Others – Adolescence, 1975
It has been the impression of the authors that a significant minority of MMPI profiles produced by adolescents suggest schizophrenia when such a process is not evident clinically. The present study was conducted in order to measure and better understand the frequency of false positive adolescent MMPI profiles. (Author)

The usefulness of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) and the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) in the classification of patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) was investigated. Twenty-two female inpatients diagnosed as having BPD and 22 female student control participants participated in the…

Over the past decade, an increasing body of research has been conducted on evidence-based psychological and psychiatric treatment for pediatric obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
