Carragher, Marcella; Sage, Karen; Conroy, Paul – International Journal of Language & Communication Disorders, 2015
Background: Capturing evidence of the effects of therapy within everyday communication is the holy grail of aphasia treatment design and evaluation. Whilst impaired sentence production is a predominant symptom of Broca's-type aphasia, the effects of sentence production therapy on everyday conversation have not been investigated. Given the…

Thompson, Cynthia K.; Choy, Jungwon Janet – Journal of Psycholinguistic Research, 2009
This paper reports the results of three studies examining comprehension and real-time processing of pronominal (Experiment 1) and Wh-movement (Experiments 2 and 3) structures in agrammatic and unimpaired speakers using eyetracking. We asked the following questions: (a) Is off-line comprehension of these constructions impaired in agrammatic…

Erdeljac, Vlasta; Sekulic, Martina – Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics, 2008
This paper examines the relative values of syntactic-semantic relationships in the mental lexicon of aphasic patients, which were tested within syntagmatic and paradigmatic networks of lexical relations. Semantic relations, such as synonymy, antonomy, and hyperonymy, as well as collocational and coordinational syntactic-semantic relations, were…

The assumption is that the comprehension problems in these two populations have different sources that are revealed in distinct patterns of responses. The focus is primarily on the…

Tsvetkova, L. S.; Glozman, J. M. – Linguistics, 1975
This investigation examines in aphasics the loss of the ability to relate words to their grammatical categories. It finds that recognition of grammatical categories is lost in all forms of aphasia studied, but that the loss is manifested differently for different types of aphasia quantitatively and qualitatively.
