Presents a brief description and evaluation of advising in departments of psychology based on a 1985 national survey. Notes, among other things, that the 'all faculty' model of advising was most popular and that a majority of institutions provided no advising rewards or system for evaluating advisers' performance. A total of 178 psychology baccalaureates were surveyed to determine how satisfied they were with their jobs. Forty-one percent of the graduates did not participate in the study. Results showed that general job satisfaction was associated with business contact and general cultural jobs and not with organizational and technical jobs. (RM)

This study explored the important components of job satisfaction in psychology baccalaureates. Results indicated highly statistically significant associations between job satisfaction and whether or not the job was psychology related and in the respondent's career choice area as well as length of job search and method used to locate job.
