Carnazzo, Katherine; Dowdy, Erin; Furlong, Michael J.; Quirk, Matthew P. – Psychology in the Schools, 2019
Students with learning disabilities (LD) represent a vulnerable population and are at higher risk for social and emotional challenges compared to their peers without LD. A strengths-based orientation is recommended to encourage building resilience factors to counteract the negative effects of LD over the lifespan. To identify areas of strength and…

Raad, Jennifer M. – ProQuest LLC, 2013
Specific learning disabilities are one of the most common and debilitating disorders experienced by children and adolescents, and students with specific learning disabilities may be particularly vulnerable to anxiety. Wehmeyer, Michael L.; Palmer, Susan B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
The psychometric properties of the Hopelessness Scale for Children (A. Kazdin et al., 1983) were examined for children and adolescents with mental retardation or a learning disability. Analyses of scores from 261 students shows a factor structure almost identical to the original structure and scale scores of adequate validity. (SLD)

Kush, Joseph C.; Watkins, Marley W. – 1994
The factor structure of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (Revised) (WISC-R) for both regular and special education populations has been well documented. Published data have also indicated that the factor structure of the WISC-R is similar across ethnic groups. With the development of the new WISC-III, comparable information is not yet…

Cadieux, Alain – Psychology in the Schools, 1996
Used 105 learning disabled children in grades one through three to assess the psychometric properties of a pictorial scale of perceived competence. Results reveal a three-factor solution for factor structure: (1) academic competence; (2) physical competence; and (3) social acceptance. Findings suggest that learning disabled pupils can discern…

Mason, Elizabeth M.; Wenck, L. Stanley – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
Cognitive differences between 987 LD children and 178 EH children in public schools on a psychoeducational assessment battery were studied, and differences in factor structure were investigated. Caution is suggested in interpreting the results of multivariate statistical analyses, which indicated heterogeneity in the matrices of LD and EH…
