Hanauer, David I.; Dolan, Erin L. – CBE - Life Sciences Education, 2014
A growing body of research documents the positive outcomes of research experiences for undergraduates, including increased persistence in science. Study of undergraduate lab learning experiences has demonstrated that the design of the experience influences the extent to which students report ownership of the project and that project ownership is…

Neimeyer, Robert A.; And Others – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1977
A pair of related experiments examined the psychometric properties on the Threat Index (TI), a theoretically based scale for the assessment of threat of death. The high reliability of the TI suggested its functioning as an index of stable conceptual orientation toward death. (Author)

Bumberry, William; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Findings indicate the Beck Depression Inventory is a valid instrument for use in a college population. The Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient between the inventory and psychiatric estimate fell to .30 in a second sample in which one-14 days intervened between administration of the inventory and the psychiatric interview (N=27). Bolton, Brian – Journal of Counsulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
Rehabilitation clients completed the Mini-Mult Test. Their responses were factor analyzed and reduced to four factors using Cattell's Screen Test. The first three factors replicated those found in previous research while the fourth had no parallel. The first three factors were retained as subscales. (NG)

Lokan, Janice – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1977
This article describes a study in which six academic and 25 shop courses offered in a special vocational high school were grouped into five clusters for each sex. Predictor tests were given to successive cohorts of entering ninth-grade students. (Author)

Bernknopf, Stanley; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1975
Traditionally, the psychometric qualities of instruments used in guidance research are not reported and concerns of validity are passed over lightly. This article examines this problem by delineating instrument development from the identification of content through initial validation processes. Procedures for item selection, item validation, and…

Fenlon, Whatley; L'Abate, Luciano – Psychology in the Schools, 1976
The concurrent validity of the KIT was evaluated by correlating it with other tests of intellectual, perceptual, social, linguistic and psycholinguistic functioning, using a sample of 106 retardates. Positive correlations between the KIT and these other measures attest to its potential usefulness as a measure of intelligence. (Author)

Krieger, Seth R.; And Others – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1979
In an attempt to assess a person's orientation toward death, a self-administered form of the Threat Index (TI) was introduced and compared to the original interview form along dimensions of validity, reliability, internal consistency, and independence from social desirability response sets. Results supported theoretical and psychometric soundness…

Tebeleff, Michael; Oakland, Thomas – 1977
One of the major responsibilities of school psychologists is assessment, one goal of which is to provide services for children who need assistance in meeting the demands of the student role. Mercer (1977) points out that the student role includes two dimensions (social and cognitive), that student success depends upon progress in both dimensions,…
