Dissatisfied and satisfied couples were administered a marital satisfaction questionnaire, and were observed in their homes. There was: (1) a high level of stability and discriminant validity for several behavior codes; (2) discriminant validity for questionnaires; and (3) a moderate degree of self-reported reactivity to observation. An inventory was constructed to screen children for psychiatric impairment. Factor analysis of the questionnaire items of child behavior yielded 18 factors. The 7 factors with the highest correlations with total psychiatric impairment were selected for the inventory, each represented by 5 items. (Author)

The authors administered the Isolation Symptomatology Questionnaire to persons living in Antarctica who were either well or maladjusted to their environment. Eliminating those items not discriminating between the two groups, the authors constructed a new isolation scale. (SE)
