Journal for Specialists in Group Work, v40 n2 p225-242 2015
This article reports results of an analysis of the relationship of young people in school, and their individual and group attitudes based on sociometric theory. This study adopted a mixed methodological approach with an intervention conducted with 60 youths over 3 years in Portugal and was based on the question "Is sociometry capable of giving support for the development of relational skills in young people within a school setting?" The results showed that sociometry can be a powerful tool to reduce conflicts and improve communication and a solid knowledge base for group counseling aimed at the development of identity of youth in a school setting.
