Galaczi, Evelina D.; ffrench, Angela; Hubbard, Chris; Green, Anthony – Assessment in Education: Principles, Policy & Practice, 2011
The process of constructing assessment scales for performance testing is complex and multi-dimensional. As a result, a number of different approaches, both empirically and intuitively based, are open to developers. In this paper we outline the approach taken in the revision of a set of assessment scales used with speaking tests, and present the…

Krus, David J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
Order analysis is discussed as a method for description of formal structures in multidimensional space. Its algorithm was derived using a combination of psychometric theory, formal logic theory, information theory, and graph theory concepts. The model provides for adjustment of its sensitivity to random variation. (Author/JKS)

Clark, James A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1977
Data generated by the pair-comparison method can be analyzed by least squares. A system of normal equations is derived by which the original objects are scaled. One advantage of this method is that it is not necessary to compare all object pairs. Examples are provided. (Author/JKS)

Gross, Leon J.; Farr, S. David – 1977
The perceived similarity of Holland's vocational personality stereotypes was examined using the techniques of nonmetric multidimensional scaling. Three job titles (JTs) were selected for each of Holland's stereotypes. These 18 JTs were then randomly paired. The resulting 153 pairs comprised an inventory which was administered to all students in a…

Subkoviak, Michael J.; Roecks, Alan L. – 1975
The present study examined three different methods of data collection in which subjects judged proximity between object pairs. One method required subjects to partition objects into homogeneous subsets; the second entailed rating object pairs on a similarity-dissimilarity continuum; and the third involved comparing inter-object proximities to a…

Nishisato, Shizuhiko – 1978
A bibliography with approximately 1,000 references to articles on multidimensional scaling (MDS) is preceded by a summary review tracing the major developments in the areas covered, and identifying significant references in each. With the exception of a few earlier documents, the period covered is 1966 to 1978. Topics mentioned in the summary…

Murphy, J. Michael; Pagano, Maria E.; Ramirez, Alicia; Anaya, A. A. Yolanda; Nowlin, Creda; Jellinek, Michael S. – Online Submission, 1999
Efforts to determine the prevalence of serious emotional disturbance in preschool-aged children have been hampered by the lack of a validated measure. The Preschool and Early Childhood Functional Assessment Scale (PECFAS) is a multi-dimensional measure that assesses the psychosocial functioning of children aged 3-7 years. The concurrent validity…
