Cicchetti, Dante; Rogosch, Fred A.; Howe, Mark L.; Toth, Sheree L. – Child Development, 2010
This investigation examined basic memory processes, cortisol, and dissociation in maltreated children. School-aged children (age range = 6-13), 143 maltreated and 174 nonmaltreated, were administered the California Verbal Learning Test-Children (D. C. Delis, J. H. Kramer, E. Kaplan, & B. A. Ober, 1994) in a week-long camp setting, daily…

Bennett, Raymond W.; Kurzeja, Paul L. – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1976
In an experiment using single-word items, subjects are run under three different speed-accuracy trade-off conditions. A competition model would predict that when subjects are forced to respond quickly, there will be an increase in errors, and these will be from recent past items. The prediction was confirmed. (CHK)

Humphreys, Michael S. – Journal of Verbal Learning and Verbal Behavior, 1975
Endpoint and distance effects have been observed in the protocols of subjects learning linear orderings. These were produced by subjects learning the frequency of word occurrence as the greater member of a relationship. Error patterns were similar on all trials. (CHK)

Schulz, Lynn S.; Lovelace, Eugene A. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Interpair acoustic and formal similarity are detrimental to verbal discrimination learning when manipulated individually; even larger performance decrements result when they are allowed to covary. (Authors)
