Recovery Praxis Epistemology: An Invitation
About Campus, v30 n5 p4-12 2025
Recovery praxis epistemology, outlined here as the ways of knowing that emerge through experience, reflection, and storytelling, offers a means to produce scholarship and practice to improve the lives of individuals touched by substance use disorders, an invitation to support recovery. To recognize the knowing that comes from experience and reflection. To strive to understand the challenges, for those dealing with substance use disorders, inherent in improving their well-being and in living self-directed, purposeful lives. To reflect on the environments that frame the higher education experience--for students, staff, and faculty in recovery. To act on those environments. Ultimately, it is an invitation to walk alongside, and perhaps even as a friend to, those individuals who journey the uneasy and rewarding path of recovery.
