The use of modified essay questions (MEQs), developed at the University of Newcastle to assess clinical problem-solving, is reported. Reliability estimates as high as 0.91 were reported. Results of the study reported include indications that student evaluations of college instructors tend to be higher when not anonymous and that undergraduate students' evaluations of instructors are lower after course marks are received.
