Coates, Brian – Child Study Journal, 1978
The consistency of eight attachment behaviors across a four-month period was investigated in two samples of infants. Multiple correlations revealed significant amounts of consistency in attachment behavior for vocalizing, visual regard, proximity to the mother from 10 to 14 months, and for touching and proximity to her from 14 to 18 months. (SE)

Clarke-Stewart, Alison – 1975
This paper presents arguments for greater use of sophisticated research strategies and statistical analyses of data in dealing with the real-life complexity of social interaction. Three possible procedures are proposed and illustrated in a study of interactions between mothers and their 8- to 18-month-old children. The first strategy is to…

Hatfield, Deborah Weider; Hatfield, John D. – Communication Monographs, 1978
Examines whether the use of a particular unit of interaction behavior enhances reliability in interaction analysis research. (Author)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Communication Research, Comparative Analysis, Educational Research
Jason, Leonard A. – 1977
This study investigates the reactive effects of observers on interactions between teachers (undergraduates and mothers) and toddlers in a preventive educational program. Findings indicate that the presence of an observer differentially affects interactional patterns in the home. More specifically, undergraduates and toddlers are relatively…

Braucht, G. Nicholas – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
Analyzed limitations of empirical research models in terms of ability to reflect an interactional perspective on suicidal behavior. A new research model was developed. Findings indicated such real-life behaviors cannot be understood by recourse to individual differences variables alone or environmental variables alone. (Author/BEF)

Pearce, W. Barnett; And Others – 1979
Studies based on models of interpersonal coorientation have discovered regularities in communication behavior that coorientation theory cannot explain. On the other hand, rules-based theories of communication contain explanatory concepts seemingly applicable to these phenomena, but have not been articulated sufficiently to be applied to the…

Rebok, George W.; Hoyer, William J. – Gerontologist, 1977
Combining behavior analysis and behavioral ecology principles is considered in regard to gerontological research and application. For the behavior analyst, the basic unit of understanding is the person's behavior in its functional context. Issues related to extending this level of analysis are discussed from a behavioral ecological perspective.…

Berkson, Gershon; Romer, Daniel – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1980
In the first of a series of papers describing social relationships among mentally disabled adults who worked in four sheltered workshops, procedures for observing and interviewing clients and for interviewing staff members are reported and data on reliability and general levels of social behavior are cited. (Author/SBH)

Komulainen, Erkki – 1971
This study examines quantification of the instructional process through the use of Markov chaining, and by considering the transition probabilities within a framework provided by the taxonomy used, attempts to obtain information about behavior sequences common to all lessons. (Author/DLG)

Zanni, Guido R. – 1976
The convergent validity between the following measures was investigated: use of accomplices, imaginary accomplices, feltboard, disguised questionnaire, and undisguised questionnaire. The first four measures yielded corresponding results. Subjects' awareness proved to be an important methodological consideration. Results were not affected by the…

Filby, Nikola N.; Fisher, Charles W. – 1977
This report provides descriptive statistical information from Phase III-B of the Beginning Teacher Evaluation Study. Within the sample of second and fifth grade teachers in classrooms in public schools in California, approximately six students were identified as target students to be studied during the school year. These students were observed…

Athelstan, Gary T.; And Others – 1970
This study is intended to provide the methodology for a full-scale study which will develop a model of physician behavior in the practice of physical medicine, evaluate the adequacy of residency training in this field, and analyze the role of paramedical personnel in rehabilitation. Regular staff members of the Commission on Education in Physical…

Mackey, William Francis – 1972
There is a growing need for instrumentation which can enable us to observe and compute phenomena that take place in time. Although problems of observation, computation, interpretation and categorization vary from field to field and from problem to problem, it is possible to design an instrument for use in any situation where time-variables have to…

Kotelchuck, Milton – 1975
This paper describes five experimental studies which explored the influence of fathers' home caregiving and interactional characteristics on their infant's laboratory behavior. Approximately 300 families with children ranging in age from 6 to 24 months were studied. Each infant's reactions were observed as a function of the manipulation of the…
