Glorfeld, Louis W. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1995
A modification of Horn's parallel analysis is introduced that is based on the Monte Carlo simulation of the null distributions of the eigenvalues generated from a population correlation identity matrix. This modification reduces the tendency of the parallel analysis procedure to overextract or to extract poorly defined factors. (SLD)

Kano, Yutaka; Ihara, Masamori – Psychometrika, 1994
A useful method is proposed for identifying a variable as inconsistent in factor analysis. The procedure, based on the likelihood principle, is illustrated. Statistical properties such as the effect of misspecified hypotheses, the problem of multiple comparisons, and robustness to violation of distributional assumptions are investigated. (SLD)

Charters, W. W., Jr.; Pitner, Nancy J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
This paper reports on the application of Yukl's Management Behavior Survey in 47 elementary schools. Three problems with the instrument are discussed: (1) lack of response; (2) interrater disagreement; and (3) ceiling effects. The dimensionality of the measure is evaluated through factor analysis. Aberg-Bengtsson, Lisbeth; Erickson, Gudrun – Educational Research and Evaluation, 2006
The research project presented in this article was set in the Swedish school context and carried out on a set of compulsory national tests for English, Swedish, and mathematics used at the end of compulsory school. The aims were: (a) to gain a deeper knowledge of the internal structure of the tests and (b) to separate individual performance from…
