The purpose of this investigation was to empirically delineate patterns of verbal interview behavior in a national sample of rehabilitation counselors. The results of the study provided evidence suggestive of relationships among counselor training, job function, and verbal interaction style. (Author)

A group of 31 clients completed the Human Service Scale and were evaluated by their counselors, who used the Client Outcome Measure at the time of the clients' acceptance for rehabilitation services and again at closure. This research project ascertained personality profiles of rehabilitation clients. Three personality inventories were used. Results indicated state agency rehabilitation clients are characterized by differential patterns of personality characteristics. The taxonomic procedure used was profile analysis, and data was based on self-report. (NG)

Rehabilitation clients completed the Mini-Mult Test. Their responses were factor analyzed and reduced to four factors using Cattell's Screen Test. The first three factors replicated those found in previous research while the fourth had no parallel. The first three factors were retained as subscales. (NG)

Statistical analyses supported two conclusions: (a) The Physiological and Emotional Security subscales of the HSS are highly saturated with psychopathological symptomatology; and (b) the remaining five HSS subscales measure dimensions of clients' psychosocial and vocational adjustment that are relatively independent of psychopathology.
