The effect of a model on subjects' willingness to engage in self-disclosure was examined in both laboratory and nonlaboratory settings. Disclosure levels did not differ in the two settings. Subjects not exposed to a model were more willing to engage in disclosure in the laboratory than in a nonlaboratory setting. (Author)

Orzek, Ann M. – Essence: Issues in the Study of Ageing, Dying, and Death, 1977
Subjects were 42 women between the ages of 40 and 60 from Springfield, Missouri. It was hypothesized that as women's neighborliness increased, the potential for disengagement from society decreased. A significant negative correlation of the .01 level was found to support the prediction. (Author)

A survey of 377 students' attitudes toward counseling at a predominantly black university indicated the predisposition to seek counseling services depended on the type of problem. Male and female counselors (N=88) viewed videotaped vignettes of two 35-year old women and two 20-year old women who portrayed problems about feared rape, existential anxiety, and choice of college major.
