Cantor, Pamela – Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, 1976
A 31-item questionnaire was given to 199 students, 20 of whom were found to have histories of previous suicide attempts. Results support the necessity of a distinction between groups within a nonsuicidal comparison population and that a quantitative relationship between frequency of suicidal thought and likelihood of attempted suicide exists.…

Griffin, Brenda S.; Griffin, Charles T. – Drug Forum: The Journal of Human Issues, 1978
Research using the differential association theory has traditionally focused on a broad general conception of delinquent or criminal behavior. This research, however, examines Sutherland's theory as it applies to drug use as a specific delinquency type. Two distinct differential association processes are proposed to explain the genesis of drug…

National Inst. of Mental Health (DHEW), Bethesda, MD. Center for Studies of Crime and Delinquency. – 1974
This brief pamphlet reports on a study of teenage delinquency outside cities. For seven years, the author followed the careers of all boys who were sophomores in 1964 in 14 high schools in one of Oregon's nonmetropolitan counties to see what patterns of delinquency developed in the group. By correlating his findings with those of a slightly later…

Globetti, Gerald; And Others – Offender Rehabilitation, 1977
The purpose of this paper is twofold: to describe the distribution of a selected set of sociodemographic variables among a random sample of inmates of a relatively large southern state penitentiary, and to correlate the inmates' drinking careers to patterns of deviant acts. (Author)

Stones, M. J. – Social Behavior and Personality, 1976
It was hypothesized that a pathological liar might be characterized by a construct system atypically loose over a wide range of conventional, socially relevant constructs. Evidence consistent with this hypothesis was obtained from the Thought Disorder Grid (TDG) and by a marked response bias on the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI). (Author)

Webster, Sandra; And Others – 1976
Aggression is examined in this paper in conjunction with other social motivational behaviors (e.g., Altruism, cooperation/competition). Its purpose is to illustrate the usefulness of an integrative approach to aggression research. Such an approach appears to be reasonable and potentially productive, since many of the same independent variables…

Millham, Jim; Weinberger, Linda E. – Journal of Homosexuality, 1977
This study related components of gender inappropriateness that isolate target persons from sources of reward and hence function as social controls against such deviance. The study confirmed that a significant portion of negative responsiveness toward homosexuals results from the belief that their behavior is incongruent with their anatomical sex.…

Milor, Charles A. – 1976
This study presents an analysis of the process of becoming a marijuana dealer. It is only through an understanding of this process that the problem of marijuana can be completely understood.
