Impression Management in the Ethical Self-Presentation of Offenders Undergoing Presentence Evaluation

Ethical choices were assessed for offenders instructed to produce favorable versus unfavorable impressions. Pronounced impression management effects were obtained for prosocial and antisocial responses, and high scores on a dimension of change defined by these variables were related to sociopathic features on the MMPI. A Study of a Pathological Liar

It was hypothesized that a pathological liar might be characterized by a construct system atypically loose over a wide range of conventional, socially relevant constructs. Evidence consistent with this hypothesis was obtained from the Thought Disorder Grid (TDG) and by a marked response bias on the Eysenck Personality Inventory (EPI). (Author)

Personality and Behavior Differences of Obese and Nonobese Adolescents

Adolescents (N=36) categorized as nonobese, obese in a weight control program, and obese who rejected a weight control program were given opportunities to snack and were administered three personality tests. Results indicated the highest level of maturity for nonobese adolescents. Other results are also reported. (Author)

Body Image Boundaries and Small Group Seating Arrangements

This study examined the effects of body image boundaries on preferred and avoided seating choices in small groups and the personal meanings associated with these measures of spatial behavior. The findings indicate a tendency toward greater defensive distancing by the boundary-indefinite subjects. (Author)

Second-Order Factors Among Normal and Pathological Primary Personality Traits

Intercorrelations among primary personality traits of the Clinical Analysis Questionnaire were factor analyzed with 925 normal adults and 950 clinical cases. When separate analyses were carried out for men and women, 10 second-order factors were clearly replicated across the two data sets. (Author)
