This paper explores some social, situational, and personal factors associated with remarriage in old age, and focuses on role changes associated with remarriage. The findings were obtained through in-depth interviews with 24 remarried elderly couples. Remarriage is seen as a viable option in old age, deserving attention and encouragement. (Author)

Spousal consensus on 12 different topics is examined. Amount and direction of the influence of these factors (structure, cohesion and stress) thought to account for consensus are evaluated. Interviews with 321 urban couples provided the data for analysis. (Author)

Using a sample of 686 married Irish women in Cork City the Bott hypothesis was tested, and the results of a multivariate regression analysis revealed that neither network connectedness nor the strength of the respondent's emotional ties to the network had any explanatory power. (Author)

This exploratory study tests the hypothesis that the precipitating event of "the loss or threatened loss of a love partner in the context of a negative value-orientation and intergroup pressures" is more likely to affect young Blacks who consider, plan, and attempt suicide than their Anglo counterparts. The article discusses possible reasons and statistical sex differences concerning dating anxiety, and then goes on to describe four models proposed to account for these data. Older men and women (N=3630) were examined for sex differences in selected social and psychological characteristics. Compared to older men, older women were found to be as work-oriented and more likely to take a long time adjusting to retirement. Older women were more likely to report "negative" psychological symptoms. (Author)

The use of sensory awareness training and the place of training were systematically controlled in four fourth-grade classrooms. Analysis of variance produced significant effects of intervention training in both settings.
