Analysis of data on 256 freshmen who had completed the Mechanization Scale revealed that the relationship of mechanical curiosity to choice of major field was consistent for men and women; however the sexes did not overlap on mechanical curiosity. In a sample of 4,035 men and women from a 1963 high school cohort, sex differences in role patterning were found in the timing, ordering, and continuity of educational, occupational, marital, and procreational roles.
