Hui, Eadaoin P. – British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, 1998
Surveys 2,045 secondary students and 267 teachers in Hong Kong to explore their perceptions about school guidance. Wong, Daniel F. K.; Kwok, Sylvia L. Y. C. – British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, 1997
Examines the nature of difficulties faced by mature college students in a Hong Kong university. Focuses on who provides which types of support. The impact of these changes over a…

Careers guidance is undergoing rapid and radical changes. However, the Careers Service is still operating to nationally agreed core training objectives which determine both initial training and supervisor training. Outlines recent changes influencing guidance practice and training, and identifies the predominant mode of current supervision within…

Kidd, Jennifer; And Others – British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, 1994
Discusses findings of a study investigating careers officers' use of theoretical models in careers guidance interviews. Evidence suggests theory is used to support, rather than determine, the development of skills in initial training. Recently trained careers officers were most likely to be familiar with theory. Overall, the findings cast doubt on…

Pearce, Anita – British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, 1994
Conducted two studies to explore assumptions that trainee counselors who are members of the indigenous population will exhibit biased attitudes when they are confronted with case histories of clients from other ethnic groups. Data indicate respondents showed more favorable patterns of attribution for white clients than those of other ethnic…

Hart, Nicola – British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, 1996
Compares the personal counseling role of the college tutor with the work of the trained student counselor. Found that a lot of role confusion exists, that untrained tutors use a smaller range of skills than counselors, and that they tend more toward advice giving and directive techniques. They feel unprepared and unsupported in their counseling…
