Investigated potentially biased scale items on the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression scale (CES-D; Radloff, 1977) in a sample of 600 adults. Overall, results indicate that the scoring method has an effect on differential item functioning (DIF), and that DIF is a property of the item, scoring method, and purpose of the assessment. (SLD)

The feasibility and efficacy of using self-report response methods with an In-Basket exercise were evaluated in two studies involving 258 managers and 55 college students, respectively. Results suggest that high face validity of the In-Basket exercise can be combined with the scoring ease and objectivity of self-reports. (SLD)

Generalizability theory is used to examine the psychometric characteristics of the Listening and Writing Tests developed by American College Testing for its Work Keys program.
