Malecki, Christine Kerres; Jewell, Jennifer – Psychology in the Schools, 2003
Investigates the developmental, gender, and practical considerations surrounding three categories of Curriculum Based Management written language scoring indices. With only one exception, older students outperformed younger students on all of the scoring indices. Although at the middle school level students' levels of writing fluency and writing…

Allen, Mary J.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Adults took the Rod and Frame, Portable Rod and Frame, and Embedded Figures Tests. Absolute and algebraic frame-effect scores were more reliable and valid than rod-effect algebraic scores. Correlations with the Embedded Figures Test were so low that the interchangeability of these field articulation measures is questionable. (Author/RD)

Orlofsky, Jacob L.; And Others – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1977
A median split and a difference/median split method were used to classify college students into masculine, feminine, androgynous and undifferentiated sex role orientations using the Bem Sex Role Inventory. The difference/ median split procedure was more successful in discriminating between sex role groups and in predicting sex role ideology. (EVH)

O'Grady, Kevin E.; Janda, Louis H. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
This inventory measures sex guilt, hostility guilt, and morality-conscience guilt. Analyses indicate the appropriateness of a simple present-absent scoring system. Internal structure of each subscale is complex. Intercorrelations of scores are larger for males. (Author/BEF)

Pomplun, Mark; And Others – 1992
This study evaluated the use of bivariate matching as a solution to the problem of studying differential item functioning (DIF) with formula scored tests. Using Scholastic Aptitude Test verbal data with large samples, both male/female and black/white group comparisons were investigated. Mantel-Haenszel (MH) delta-(D) DIF values and DIF category…

Strahan, Robert F. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1975
The drawbacks of a 't' ratio measure of psychological androgyny are discussed. Other measurement approaches are indicated, and a substantive issue is addressed. (Author)

Gough, Harrison G.; Lanning, Kevin – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
To forecast four-year, two-year, and single-course grades in college, a California Psychological Inventory equation was developed. Cross-validational coefficients for scores on the equation were .38 for 326 males and .36 for 570 females. (Author/GDC)

Rippey, Robert M. – 1972
This paper examines confidence testing, and reasons for using confidence tests. Different scoring systems are studied in order to clarify the meaning of significance of the weights which subjects assign to confidence scored tests. (DLG)

Atkins, Warren J.; And Others – Educational Studies in Mathematics, 1991
Results from the Australian Mathematics Competition for 1988 and 1989 (n=309,443 and n=331,660) were analyzed on three statistical measures to determine risk-taking tendencies by groups of students classified by gender, school year, and achievement level. Results showed statistically significant differences for gender but varied depending on the…

Veldman, Donald J. – 1967
This report forms the background for some current efforts to develop computer-based scoring systems for One-Word Sentence Completion data. A general discussion of response grouping problems and a three-way frequency table for data reduction are included. In addition, six "structural" response variables are defined. The report concludes with an…

Pike, Lewis W. – 1980
This study describes intergroup guessing differences in response to tests and to test-like tasks. It is a composite of seven component inquiries with three substudies in Phase 1 and four in Phase 2. These seven studies cover the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) item-type domain from a number of viewpoints relevant to implicit guessing behavior.…

Veldman, Donald J.; And Others – 1968
This paper outlines the development of techniques for computer-based personality assessment from sentence completions. The One-Word Sentence Completion (OWSC) instrument was designed to elicit data suitable for machine processing, while retaining most of the advantages of a free-response format. Two operative scoring systems are described. The…

Rippey, Robert M. – 1971
Technical improvements, which may be made in the reliability and validity of tests through confidence scores, are discussed. However, studies indicate that subjects do not handle their confidence uniformly. (MS)
