An aspect of construct validity of the six scales of the Career Maturity Inventory was investigated with 127 ninth-grade students. The scales were found to be more highly intercorrelated than is desirable. Coupled with their modest reliabilities, this outcome was interpreted as a major limitation of the instrument. (Author)

This paper presents the results of a study designed to determine whether or not Career Choice Attitudes and Career Choice Competencies are interrelated as hypothesized in the Crites' (1965, 1973a) model of career maturity. A study used a combination of cross-sectional and longitudinal designs to assess the variables of curriculum, intelligence, socioeconomic status, and Career Maturity Inventory scores. Surveyed the vocational developmental pattern of Nigerian students (N=400) using the Career Maturity Inventory (Crites). Results indicated the overall vocational maturity showed a prototypic pattern of progressive increase by age, but especially by grade.
