Cottle, Thomas J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
A study is reported of the relationships between an abbreviated dogmatism scale, two dogmatism subscales, and perceptions of time. Among the conclusions, it was found that for men and women, dogmatism relates to anxiety about time, a reduction in the present's and future's importance, and an emphasis on the past. (Author)

Those Ss who scored high, medium or low on a scale of trait (predispositional) anxiety were found to differ reliably in level of state (situational) anxiety when tested before and after two standardized interviews. This relationship held for both male and female Ss, although males manifested consistently higher levels of state anxiety than…

Quick, Alida D.; Crano, William D. – 1973
Empirical evidence indicates that intrusions into an individual's personal space may produce anxiety and defensive or avoidance behaviors which might be reduced when conversation occurs between interactants. Edgar, Timothy M. – 1983
The argument has been advanced that in intimate self-disclosure sex differences occur with males being less intimately disclosive than females--especially to other males. The argument posits that males who have homophobia (a fear of sexual contact with members of the same sex) might view intimate self-disclosure as a homosexual act and thus avoid…
