The findings of a study comparing the types of medical careers of female and male physicians in North Carolina in 1973 are reported. The main question addressed is whether female physicians have different medical careers, in terms of primary specialities and the settings of practice, from male physicians. (LBH)

Studied the influence of job sex composition in relation to security, suitability of type of work, and company recognition in college students (N=95). Results indicated that sex composition exerted the least influence on job desirability while security and suitability of type of work exerted the greatest influence. (LLL)

Relationships between age and employee satisfaction with intrinsic and extrinsic outcomes were investigated in samples of female (n=177) and male (n=96) blue-collar operatives. Results indicated a linear approximation of the age-satisfaction relationships is adequate, and satisfaction with intrinsic outcomes is related to age. (Author)

Influences of heredity and environment on educational and occupational choice in mid-life and elderly cohorts were studied using longitudinal twin data (413 pairs). For both education and occupation there is a trend toward increasing genetic variance for females in comparison to males in the younger cohort. (SLD)
