Ba', Stefano – Power and Education, 2021
The 'New Paradigm' of Sociology of Childhood famously maintains that childhood is socially constructed and supposedly places a much greater emphasis on the agency of children: children should not simply be framed as the passive receivers of socialisation. Barnes, Grace M. – Journal of Educational Thought, 1977

Cole, Stephen – American Journal of Sociology, 1986
Using historical data on applications and admissions to medical school between 1929 and 1984, this study tested the hypothesis that medical school admissions committees discriminated against women. The findings suggest that, as far back as 1929, the low representation of women was primarily due to socialization-based occupational choice. (JDH)
