Analysis of phonological patterns of 14 children (3 to 5 years old) with severe articulation disorders revealed that eight Ss demonstrated a sound preference process. Similarities in sound preferences included occurrence in the word-initial position. (CL)

Twelve primary grade children who inconsistently misarticulated "r" participated in training programs for specific allophones of "r." Training steps included production of syllables, nouns, noun phrases, and simple sentences. Generalizing to untrained allophones occurred for all children. (Author)

Four 17- to 21-month-old normally developing, and four 32- to 35-month-old language impaired children, classified as "referential" speakers or "expressive" speakers, produced linguistic features in clusters, and manifested play behaviors that were consistent with the children's pattern of lexical distribution.
