Sayasenh, Samone – ProQuest LLC, 2012
There is a plethora of studies on Latino academic underachievement, but very little information about Latino students who are successful at community colleges, yet the majority of Latino undergraduates in the U.S. attend these two-year schools. Furthermore, studies disaggregating Latino sub-groups have been limited or non-existent; therefore, this…

Kravetz, Diane F. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
This study examined the sex role concepts of women (N=150). It was hypothesized that given the growing influence of the women's movement, women would not conceptualize healthy women and men in terms of sex role stereotypes. Results indicated that descriptions of women and men did not correspond to sex role stereotypes. (Author)

Derlega, Valerian J.; Chaikin, Alan L. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
It was predicted that attributions of mental illness would be based on the extent to which self-disclosure deviates from appropriate sex role behavior for men and women with self-disclosure perceived as appropriate for women and inappropriate for men. The findings supported the hypotheses. (Author/NG)

Murphy, Roger J. L. – 1977
Many academic examinations exhibit sex differences in terms of entry figures and pass rates. This fact is illustrated by a selection of statistics from the British GCE "O" level examination results for June 1976. These results are discussed in terms of three possible causes: innate differences in intellectual functioning, sex role…

Undergraduate teachers-in-training (n=94) were introduced to a hypothetical child through biased psychological reports that differed according to the described child's sex, favorability of the report, and behavioral vs. descriptive style of the psychological reports. Hawley, Peggy – 1975
A year spent in fulltime study of over 3,000 young women and counselors of both sexes in 13 schools shows that both groups have largely discarded the traditional stereotype of womanhood. Attitudes were measured on a continuum from dichotomous (gender-based) to androgynous (no sex referent). Counselors were significantly more androgynous than the…

Crockett, Walter H.; And Others – Journal of Gerontology, 1979
Subjects read interviews in which either a 36-year-old or a 76-year-old widow talked about her life. They then rated their attitudes. Results show the perceivers viewed specific older persons as exceptions, while retaining negative stereotypes of the elderly in general. Theoretical expectations differed from results. (Author/BEF)

Longino, Charles F.; Kitson, Gay C. – Journal of Gerontology, 1976
Hypotheses concerning clergymen's enjoyment of their pastoral contacts with older parishioners are examined. The hypotheses test the ideas that ministers do not enjoy pastoral contacts with the elderly and that these contacts reflect the clergymen's ageist preferences and concern with instrumental over expressive values. Results are discussed.…
