Fischer, Ann R. – Counseling Psychologist, 2007
Research has demonstrated that experiences with attachment to and psychological separation from parents predict men's reports of masculine gender-role stress and conflict. This article extends the literature by examining possible variations in these links that may be accounted for by men's core personality characteristics. The author hypothesizes…

Chang, Huo-Tsan; Chi, Nai-Wen; Miao, Min-Chih – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2007
This study explored the relationship between three-component organizational/occupational commitment and organizational/occupational turnover intention, and the reciprocal relationship between organizational and occupational turnover intention with a non-recursive model in collectivist cultural settings. We selected 177 nursing staffs out of 30…

Stevens, Tara; Hamman, Doug; Olivarez, Arturo, Jr. – Journal of Latinos & Education, 2007
This study postulated a structural model to investigate the degree of influence that White middle-level teachers who employ mastery goal orientation and academic pressure may have on Hispanic students' sense of school belongingness. Participants were 434 5th and 6th grade students and 21 teachers. Initial proposed model estimates fit the data…

Hernandez-Gantes, Victor M. – 1995
A structural model of school learning was tested to examine both direct and indirect influences of previous grades, quality of instruction, motivation, quantity of instruction, and homework on Hispanic-American eighth-grade students' academic achievement, while controlling for background variables. The model was analyzed with path analytic…

Driessen, Geert W. J. M. – Early Child Development and Care, 2003
A model of family, child, and parental childrearing characteristics was developed and tested for predicting the cognitive competence in a sample of 10,774 six-year-olds from The Netherlands. Results of LISREL analyses showed that parent education level played a central role in explaining differences in children's cognitive competence. Family…

Dimitrov, Dimiter M.; Raykov, Tenko – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 2003
Presents a validation procedure for cognitive structures that is based on structural equation modeling of cognitive subordination relationships among test items. Illustrates the method using scores of 278 ninth graders on an algebra test and shows results for the same test when the linear logistic test model is used. (SLD)

Burkholder, Gary J.; Harlow, Lisa L. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2003
Tested a model of HIV behavior risk, using a fully cross-lagged, longitudinal design to illustrate the analysis of larger structural equation models. Data from 527 women who completed a survey at three time points show excellent fit of the model to the data. (SLD)

Harlow, Lisa L.; Burkholder, Gary J.; Morrow, Jennifer A. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2002
Used a structural modeling approach to evaluate relations among attitudes, initial skills, and performance in a Quantitative Methods course that involved students in active learning. Results largely confirmed hypotheses offering support for educational reform efforts that propose actively involving students in the learning process, especially in…

Conway, Neil; Briner, Rob B. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 2002
Analysis of psychological contract variables (affective and continuance commitment, intention to quit, well-being, job satisfaction, organizational citizenship behavior)was conducted on two samples: 1,608 banking employees (71% part time) and 366 supermarket employees (65% part time). Part- and full-time workers had different attitudes; fulfilment…

Ding, Cody S.; Hershberger, Scott L. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2002
Describes an alternative approach to assessing content validity and content equivalence in terms of item-content structures and content area constructs. Results from applying structural equation modeling to item-response data from two Regents College examinations to verify content constructs suggest the different degrees of inconsistency and bias…

Duncan, Terry E.; And Others – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1994
An example application of latent growth methodology used to analyze developmental change in adolescent alcohol consumption is presented. Findings are discussed with reference to the utility of latent growth curve models for assessing developmental processes of both the inter- and intra-individual level across a variety of behavioral domains. Pentz, Mary Ann; Chou, Chih-Ping – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1994
Used empirical example of longitudinal experimental prevention study with two groups to illustrate use of structural equation modeling, first, to systematically test measurement invariance across groups at each wave of measurement, and second, after establishing measurement invariance, to test structural invariance longitudinally. (Author/NB)

Duncan, Terry E.; Alpert, Anthony; Duncan, Susan C. – Structural Equation Modeling, 1998
An analysis of sibling data from the National Youth Survey shows the pitfalls of ignoring issues of independence and demonstrate how conventional covariance structure software can be easily adapted to handle hierarchical models, providing a new approach that models within-level and between-level covariance matrices in familial antisocial behavior.…

Steiger, James H. – Structural Equation Modeling, 2000
Discusses two criticisms raised by L. Hayduk and D. Glaser of the most commonly used point estimate of the Root Mean Square Error (RMSEA) and points out misconceptions in their discussion. Although there are apparent flaws in their arguments, the RMSEA is open to question for several other reasons. (SLD)

Parshall, Cynthia G.; Houghton, Pansy Du Bose; Kromrey, Jeffrey D. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1995
Sample sizes (n=15, 25, 50, 100) were examined (1,000 times each) with replacement from each of 5 data files from teacher subject test areas to compare statistical bias and standard error. Trivial levels of equating bias were present with small samples, and substantial increases in standard errors were found as the sample size decreased. (MAK)
